MEET RAY
Ray Blacklidge is a local attorney and businessman who cares deeply about our community and its future. Guided by his background as a businessman and advocate for consumers, Ray is running for the Florida House of Representatives.
Whether he is serving as a Boy Scout leader or on a volunteer board, Ray believes in giving back to the community.
Ray was born in Fort Belvoir Virginia while his Dad was in the Army Corp of Engineers. They moved to Indiana and then to Northern Illinois. He is now a resident of Madeira Beach.
Ray has been a Republican since 1978 with the exception of two years when he left because he disagreed so strongly with Charlie Crist as Governor and head of our State Party.
He was the SIU-C College Republicans President, He was an elected Republican Precinct Committeeman in Illinois, He currently serves on the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee and has served as an appointed Republican Precinct Committeeman longer than any of his opponents, He belongs to the St. Petersburg Republican Club, the Central Pinellas County Republican Club and won the Pinellas County Republican Straw Poll.
Ray, along with members of the local Jerger family and others, owns and operates a family of companies including Modern USA Insurance Company and American Traditions Insurance Company. These companies, based right here in Pinellas County, provide good, stable jobs to over 150 families in our community.
Modern USA and American Traditions serve mobile homeowners, condominium residents and traditional single family homeowners. These companies were founded to offer Floridians affordable alternatives to Citizens and other faraway insurance companies.
Ray is proud of his past record of fighting for consumers in regards to Florida's Lemon Law and with his work studying fraud and theft in the insurance world.
Ray lives with his wife Lisa, a physician's assistant, in Madeira Beach and are thrilled their five children and three grandchildren all live in the Tampa Bay area.
